Brother Eugene was born in Owsley County Kentucky on December 23, 1928 to Wilson and Lillie
Smith Burton and departed his life on Thursday August 30, 2007 at the University of Tennessee
Hospital in Knoxville.
He was preceded on death by his wife of fifty years, Imogene Scott Burton; his parents, Wilson
and Lillie Smith Burton; and one daughter, Saundra Kay Burton.
Surviving are his children, Donnie Burton (Rhonda), Linda Craiger, Debi Sexton (Billy), and
Sharon "Doodle Bug" Burton; five grandchildren, Jami Benning, Donnie Ray Burton, Andrew
Burton, Tre Sexton and Jacob Craiger; and four great-grandchildren, David Benning, Braydon
Burton, Jade Burton, and Zachary Austin; one brother, Hubert Burton; one sister, Wanda Collier,
a host of nieces, nephews, friends and church family.

Brother Burton must have been singing "Amazing Grace" and praising God as he walked through
the Pearly Gates. His devotion to his God and his church was a wonderful light to a great many
people. He and Pastor Willie Hall are walking on that street of God as they often talked about
