Ervin Birchfield, 73, of Cumberland departed this life on Friday, February 27, 2009 at Whitesburg
ARH. Ervin was a native of North Carolina and lived in Harlan County most of his life. He was a
heavy equipment operator. Brother Birchfield was a preacher for over 30 years of his life; Pastor of
Sandhill Baptist Church for 9 years; and a member of the Sandhill Baptist Church for 32 years.
Survivors include his wife, Delois Lewis Birchfield, Cumberland; four children, Patricia North and
husband, Charles, Cumberland; Brenda Bridges and husband, Tommy, Middlesboro; Jeff Birchfield
and wife, Andrea, Evarts; Lynn Johnson and husband, Eugene, Gordon; six grandchildren, Kristi
Milwee, Robin Birchfield, Shayna Birchfield, Joshua Johnson, Matthew Johnson, and Joe Eldridge; a
special granddaughter, Kaydee Lewis; a host of other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Ellen Chapman Birchfield; a daughter, Debra Jean
Birchfield; three brothers, Johnny Birchfield, James Birchfield, and Lester Birchfield.

Bro. Ervin was always a good sport.. Unfortunate for him..we took advantage of that. So we often
used him as our guinea pig.. He loved every minute of it. (as you can tell)
He will always be loved and held close to our heart.
